The Doctors

They are organized in Departments, Operational Units, Disease Center and Services. More than 600 doctors work in Humanitas, from which 35% are under 40 and 43% are women. The hospital has more than 50 Operational Units both nationally and internationally recognized in the field of oncology, neuroscience, orthopedics, cardiology, ocular medicine and medically assisted procreation. Humanitas University offers a 6-year Bachelor Degree, and the courses are held exclusively in English. From the first year, interdisciplinary theoretical modules are integrated with practical exercises and simulations; the clinical activities start in the third year. From the third year on the students can also access, after selection, the "Excellence in Research Track" integrative research training.

The self-growth

For the young professional the career path in Humanitas starts with the training for the position Assistant that gives the possibility for a later promotion to Help, Section Manager, all the way to the position of Head of Operational Unit. Humanitas promotes professional growth through intense high-mix operational activity and participation in multidisciplinary groups. It also promotes applied research at the clinic by providing dedicated functions (Grant Office, Clinical Trials Office). The didactic and organizational skills are also developed through appropriate training plans by constantly promoting interdisciplinary working groups.

Nursing Services

Over 600 Nurses and 200 Social-Health Operators work hard every day to offer specialist care to our patients in different medical areas. A team of professionals with 75% women from Italy and abroad (20%) is fully committed to valorizing their profession every day through constant developing, teamwork and experimental projects to ensure the increasing quality and safety of the healthcare. At the Humanitas University, there is a Nursing Degree Program available, 3 years duration, conducted in Italian and includes clinical apprenticeship starting from the first year.

Nurses: with the pace of innovation

During your career you can specialize in the following areas:

Intensive intervention – by acquiring peculiar skills for specialist fields (e.g robotics, anesthesia, etc.).

Rehabilitation – by choosing innovative assisted trainings (e.g case management).

Research – with active collaboration in the application of research protocols in order to improve the welfare and the clinical practice.

Didactics – by choosing tutoring courses aimed to accompany the students towards “on the job” trainings.

Non-medical Healthcare Professionals

Non-medical Healthcare Professionals

More than 200 non-medical healthcare professionals help the doctors with checkups, exams and surgeries. They are radiologists, laboratorists, pathological anatomy technicians, physiotherapists; Biologists, physicians, pharmacists, logopedists, nutritionists, orthoptics, psychologists and audiometrists. Our professionals benefit from technologically advanced machinery and equipment that allow extremely accurate diagnosis and therapy. Humanitas University offers a Degree in Physiotherapy, 3 years duration, conducted in Italian and includes clinical placements starting from the first year.

In Humanitas, Customer Services involve more than 200 people who are the first interlocutors for the patients, welcoming them and listening to their needs. They follow them from their first contact with our hospital along their route, providing all the explanation on the services.

Garantisce il corretto svolgimento delle attività contabili/bilancistiche, assicura l’adempimento degli obblighi fiscali in vigore a livello societario e ha il compito di misurare, attraverso appositi indicatori, lo scostamento tra obiettivi pianificati e risultati conseguiti e di informare, elaborando il reporting dedicato, il management aziendale perché possa intraprendere le azioni gestionali necessarie.


Il Building Management si occupa della gestione e della manutenzione delle infrastrutture dell’istituto, di realizzare i lavori che sono richiesti per adeguare le infrastrutture alle strategie aziendali, assicurando il controllo sui cantieri in coerenza con quanto richiesto dagli enti certificatori.


La Direzione Comunicazione gestisce i contatti con i media nazionali e locali e si occupa di promuovere l’immagine dell’ospedale e dei suoi professionisti presso pazienti, istituzioni e stakeholder, in una logica di comunicazione strettamente integrata. Gestisce inoltre gli strumenti di comunicazione interna rivolta a dipendenti e collaboratori dell’ospedale.


La Direzione Medico-Sanitaria è responsabile della lettura organizzativa della normativa sanitaria e dei flussi informativi che la rappresentano verso la Pubblica Amministrazione. Presidia la gestione del processo clinico assistenziale, valutando e risolvendo le tematiche igienistiche e coordinando le azioni di governo clinico, l’area della qualità e del risk management.


I Sistemi Informativi sono deputati a presidiare i flussi informativi a supporto di tutti i processi dell’ospedale. Sono responsabili della definizione dell’architettura ICT aziendale, delle scelte tecnologiche, applicative o di sourcing e della relativa allocazione delle risorse economiche.


Il servizio di Ingegneria Clinica ha il compito di garantire l’uso sicuro, appropriato ed economico delle apparecchiature elettromedicali all'interno dell’istituto nel rispetto delle normative tecnico/legali vigenti. Svolge inoltre una funzione di supporto ingegneristico agli operatori sanitari sia per la valutazione di nuove acquisizioni in tecnologia sia per la risoluzione di problemi legati alle apparecchiature.


La funzione Monitoraggio Qualità elabora e produce la reportistica utile al miglioramento continuo del servizio offerto ai pazienti ospedalieri, basata su dati clinici, su indagini di soddisfazione del paziente e su dati organizzativi.


L’Operations Management ha il compito di pianificare e gestire gli asset dell’istituto (sale operatorie, posti letto, ambulatori e tecnologie) in coerenza con gli obiettivi strategici aziendali. In particolare, attraverso l’analisi dei flussi dei pazienti, insieme alle équipe mediche, programma le attività cliniche a supporto dei percorsi di cura, in un’ottica di efficienza ed efficacia, minimizzando gli sprechi.


La Direzione Risorse Umane e Organizzazione assicura la gestione e lo sviluppo di tutte le figure professionali. Ne cura la selezione e ne sostiene il percorso professionale attraverso la formazione, il performance management e le politiche retributive. Garantisce gli adempimenti amministrativi, le relazioni sindacali ed il governo dei costi.


I Servizi Generali si occupano di gestire tutti i servizi alberghieri e di supporto alle attività gestionali e sanitarie, garantendone l’efficienza costante nel rispetto delle normative vigenti e in coerenza con gli standard qualitativi richiesti.


La Supply Chain gestisce il processo di approvvigionamento di beni e servizi necessari per lo svolgimento delle attività cliniche, garantendo la gestione del magazzino e ponendosi come obiettivo il risparmio dei costi in coerenza con gli standard qualitativi richiesti.



From physician to technician, from bioinformatics to data manager: the panorama of professional profiles is open to those who in Humanitas want to dedicate themselves to pre-clinical and translational research.

The activity
The current basic and clinical research projects are aimed for testing the effectiveness of new drugs, identifying genetic features for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases, defining innovative diagnostic methods and developing more and more technical techniques “state-of-the-art” thanks to the help of new the technologies. The projects are characterized by the international dimension and the application of the so-called "translational" model, which involves close integration between laboratory and clinical activity, essential to quick application of the research results to the patient's bed.

Constant updating
Humanitas participates in international projects where young researchers are provided with adequate training , as well as idea-exchanging moments on development and evolution of medicine and biomedical research in the service of human health. The Scientific Directorate organizes high-level scientific meetings, including seminars and Humanitas Lectures, with the aim of analyzing key areas of research, using the contribution of international doctors and researchers who have fundamental roles in their respective areas of expertise, including Nobel Prize awarded scientists such as Rolf Zinkernagel, Jules Hoffmann and Erwin Neher.
